Frankel Stakes on Dec. 29. Last out, they led for about a half-mile in the $7 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational against males at 1 3/16 miles on a yielding course at Gulfstream Park Jan. 26 before fading to 10th and last at odds of 42-1.“It wasn’t really the distance that compromised her chances,” said Vladimir Cerin, who trains the five-year-old Pennsylvania-bred for Bran Jam Stables and David W. Clark.“She won the Frankel at a mile and an eighth, and the Pegasus was only a sixteenth of a mile longer, but she was done after three jumps, the ground was so soft.“She doesn’t handle it well. This turf course dries up very quickly so it should be good for her, but if it’s got a lot of cut in the ground, she won’t run.”Addressing style and strategy, Cerin asked rhetorically, “Who’s going to keep her from being in front? She’s done 44 and four here and kept going and she loves this turf course.”Fahan Mura led Vasilika on a merry chase before yielding twice, finishing third by less than two lengths in the Grade II John C. Mabee at a mile and an eighth, and second in Grade II Goldikova at a mile on grass.Cerin willingly offers kudos to Maldonado.“I give Edwin all the credit,” Cerin said, “because he never restrained her. He just let her be herself and have a nice, free pace from the beginning to the end.”The Grade II Buena Vista, race eight of 10 offering $200,000 in purse money with a 12:25 p.m. first post time: Take These Chains, Tiago Pereira, 12-1; Ms Bad Behavior, Mike Smith, 5-1; Zaffinah, Rafael Bejarano, 12-1; Fahan Mura, Edwin Maldonado, 6-1; Compelled, Joe Talamo, 12-1; Amandine, Drayden Van Dyke, 8-1; English Dancer, Kent Desormeaux, 20-1; Elysea’s World, Joel Rosario, 4-1; Vasilika, Flavien Prat, 8-5; and Streak of Luck, Tyler Baze, 20-1.SHOW IT N MOE IT HAS A CASE OF SPRING FEVERShow It N Moe It is a consistent if unsung filly that has paid her way through two-plus seasons of racing for trainer Gary Sherlock, owner/breeder Terry Lovingier, and part owner Eugene Zondlo. They hope the four-year-old daughter of Grace Upon Grace runs her winning streak to a modest two in Sunday’s $100,000 Spring Fever Stakes for older California-bred fillies and mares at six furlongs.“She’s a nice filly and good filly,” Sherlock said. “I hope we can win, because it will put her over $400,000 (she has earned $375,604).”Sherlock has enjoyed a long and successful run with Lovingier, one of the Golden State’s most dedicated contributors to the Cal-bred program. The Spring Fever, race eight of nine: Show It N Moe It, Rafael Bejarano; Coco Kisses, Joel Rosario; S Y Sky, Joe Talamo; Barbara Beatrice, Tiago Pereira; and Into Rissa, Geovanni Franco.STRONACH 5 CARRYOVER TODAY IS $169,305.51The Stronach 5 will have a record pool Friday when the national wager with an industry-low 12-percent takeout begins with a carryover of $169,305.51.The Stronach 5 will kick off at 1:35 p.m. PT with the ninth race at Laurel Park. Car And Driver Reviews The Tesla Model X 100D

CAR AND DRIVER: THE 2018 TESLA MODEL X 100D IS ‘FRESH, DIGITIZED, AND FUTURISTIC’With all the attention focused on the Tesla Model 3 these days, it’s hard to remember that Tesla’s SUV, its Model X, is still considered an industry game changer. Steve Siler (via Car and Driver) recently got a chance to review the 2018 Tesla Model X 100D, noting that its many fun features “contribute to a character that can be described as fresh, digitized, and futuristic… a car that offers plenty of novelty.”*This article comes to us courtesy of EVANNEX (which also makes aftermarket Tesla accessories). Authored by Matt Pressman. The opinions expressed in these articles are not necessarily our own at InsideEVs.Check Out These Stories: Above: Tesla’s Model X (Image: Tesla)After spending time in the Model X, certain features stand out. The vegan leather “white premium interior upgrade gives the space a bit of a Buck Rogers starship vibe.” And, “the gigantic windshield that extends uninterrupted over the front passengers’ heads just seems cooler each time we drive a Model X… The view out is truly spectacular.” Yet, the “novelty wears off” of the dramatic “attention-getting… [albeit] slow” falcon wing doors. That said, “The Model X doesn’t need these Tesla-isms to earn its stripes as a standard-setting electric vehicle.” Tesla’s SUV is more than road trip capable as “it boasts an EPA-estimated 295 miles of range, thanks to its potent, 100.0-kWh battery pack tucked beneath the floor, making it the longest-range electrified crossover on the market.” And Tesla’s Supercharger network is growing rapidly while “recharging is admirably speedy.” Tesla Model 3, Model S And Model X Compared: Range, Price, 0-60 Author Liberty Access TechnologiesPosted on October 5, 2018Categories Electric Vehicle News Tesla Model X Road Trip From Denver To Zion National Park Tesla Model 3 Performance Races Model X P100D, Ford Falcon Drag Car Above: Tesla’s Superchargers (Image: Tesla)When compared to other electric cars, Siler points out a significant Tesla advantage: “the car will remind you while you’re still within range of one of Tesla’s Supercharger stations, the population of which has risen to 1342 different locations and more than 11,000 individual stalls.” Compared to Car and Driver’s last count, “that’s a huge jump from the mere 400 or so locations and 2000 chargers available three years ago.”Where the Model X really shines is its performance. “Even though there’s no Ludicrous mode as in the P100D, the 100D’s relative silence, high seating position, and considerable cabin width—combined with the unobstructed view of the outside world becoming a blur—make full-throttle acceleration an immersive experience,” writes Siler. And this SUV is no slouch. “Tesla estimates a 4.7-second zero-to-60-mph time” for the 100D. In addition, “Handling is respectable, thanks no doubt to a low center of gravity.”.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }Above: The dancing Model X Holiday Show draws a crowd at the Eiffel Tower in Paris (Youtube: Bjørn Nyland)Siler found many of the Model X Easter eggs, like the Holiday Show “audio/visual extravaganza” to be one of many “surreal moments” to be had in the Model X. While other innovative features like “Tesla’s nifty Summon… solve a problem no other car in the world presents.” He concludes, “If some of its novelties are silly… plenty of others are not. And the 100D version proves that you don’t need Ludicrous mode to feel as if you’ve entered the future.”===Source: Car and Driver*Editor’s Note: EVANNEX, which also sells aftermarket gear for Teslas, has kindly allowed us to share some of its content with our readers, free of charge.
